Quick verdict

PlatinumLED lists the BIOMAX 300 at $659, 450 at $799, 600 at $1,049 and 900 at $1,299 (29 Sept 2026), a newer BIOMAX PRO line from $799 to $1,599, and a 3-year warranty. We found no independent measurement of the 300. A spectrometer review of the 900 measured 90.3 mW/cm2 average at 6 inches. Old figures for the 300 on this page could not be traced and were removed.

The short answer: PlatinumLED sells the BIOMAX 300 at $659, 450 at $799, 600 at $1,049 and 900 at $1,299, plus a newer BIOMAX PRO line (NANO $799, MIDI $999, GRANDE $1,299, ULTRA $1,599) and a $299 portable BIOMAX GO, all with a 3-year warranty and a 60-day trial, per the brand (checked 29 Sept 2026). We found no independent measurement of the 300; the nearest independent data is a spectrometer review of the 900. The figures earlier versions of this page gave for the 300 could not be traced and were removed. No trial shows that a panel with more output gives better results: see the evidence by outcome.

The brand describes the panels as an FDA Class II medical device with a 60-day trial and 3-year warranty. Sizes, wattage and irradiance for the smaller panels were not readable on the product data we could open, so we do not compare output across the range.

BioMax 900 (8th generation, Jul 2024)Peak 113, average 90.3 mW/cm2 at 6 inches; 75 at 12 inches; 186 W; seven wavelengths from 480 to 1,060 nmLight Therapy Insiders

The reviewer discloses being affiliated with PlatinumLED (5% commission through links). It is one reviewer, one unit and an earlier generation, so treat the figure as indicative. A smaller panel like the 300 has lower total power; do not read the 900’s numbers as the 300’s.

Which one, if any

  • You want the only independently measured model: the 900, at $1,299 (the reviewer’s average of 90.3 mW/cm2 at 6 inches works out at about $14.4 per mW/cm2 by our arithmetic).
  • You want to try red light cheaply: the 300 at $659 or the GO at $299 are the lowest entry points; whether they deliver useful dose is unmeasured.
  • You want to compare brands: see the three-way comparison, the Joovv Solo 3.0 and Mito Red MitoPRO 1500 reviews, and the panel roundup.

Skip it if you expect proven anti-aging or fat-loss effects (the evidence is mixed by outcome), you have a light-sensitive condition or take photosensitising medicines (ask your doctor), or you cannot use the 60-day trial to decide. PlatinumLED panels are also on Amazon (we may earn a commission; the link is a search).

Method note

Researched from PlatinumLED’s pages and storefront data and a named third-party review (29 Sept 2026). We did not test or measure any panel. Prices change; re-check before buying. General information, not medical advice.

Common questions

How much irradiance does the PlatinumLED BioMax deliver?

One reviewer measured the BioMax 900 with a spectrometer at a peak of 113 mW/cm2 and an average of 90.3 mW/cm2 at 6 inches (75 at 12 inches), with 186 W total. PlatinumLED describes its own testing as a solar-meter centre-point test plus a third-party spectrometer test. We found no independent measurement of the BioMax 300.

Does the BioMax 300 exist in the current lineup?

PlatinumLED lists the BIOMAX 300 at $659 and the 450 at $799 on its storefront on 29 Sept 2026, alongside the 600 ($1,049) and 900 ($1,299) and a newer BIOMAX PRO line.
